Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Seth Crowley ("we," "us," "our") handles information in the Outs mobile application ("Outs," the "app"). Outs is a self-help tool for people who want to stop or reduce gambling. By using the app you agree to this policy.
Information you provide
- Account details. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from that provider. You can also use the app with an anonymous account, which is identified only by a randomly generated ID.
- Recovery activity you enter. This includes onboarding answers about your gambling patterns, mood check-ins, urge logs, money check-ins, streak and quit dates, an optional daily spending baseline and monthly loss figure, goals, journal and reflection entries, and commitments. Some of this reflects sensitive circumstances, so we limit access to it and store it securely.
- Messages to the AI companion (Griff). When you chat with the in-app AI, the text you send is processed to generate a reply. See "AI companion" below.
- Community content. If you post in the community, the text and any images you choose to upload are stored so they can be shown to other users. Do not post anything you would not want others to see.
- Purchase status. When you subscribe, we receive your subscription and entitlement status. Apple processes the actual payment; we do not receive your card number.
Information collected automatically
- Basic technical and diagnostic data. Standard app and platform data used to keep the app running and to fix crashes and errors.
- App-blocking selections stay on your device. If you use the blocking feature, the apps you choose are handled through Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) system as opaque tokens on your device. We cannot see which specific apps you selected, and those selections are never transmitted to us, shared, or sold. They are used only to block the apps you picked.
How we use your information
- To provide the app's features: tracking streaks and progress, generating insights, powering the AI companion, running the community, and managing your subscription.
- To keep the app secure, diagnose problems, and improve it.
- To respond to you if you contact support.
Service providers we share data with
We use a small number of processors to run the app. They receive only what they need to perform their function, and they are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes:
- Supabase — hosting, database, and authentication (stores your account and recovery data).
- RevenueCat and Apple — subscription management and payment processing.
- Apple and Google — sign-in, if you choose those options.
- Google (Gemini) — powers the AI companion. See below.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for cross-app advertising or tracking.
AI companion
The in-app AI companion is powered by Google's Gemini models. The messages you send to it, along with limited context such as your current streak length and most recent mood, are sent to Google to generate a response. Do not share information with the AI that you would not want processed by a third-party AI service. The AI can be wrong and is not a substitute for professional help.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app (Settings), which removes your associated data from our systems. You can also contact us to request deletion.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, use the in-app account deletion option or contact us at the email below.
Age
Outs is intended for adults 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date at the top of this page.
